This is cutting edge Light Therapy,  developed in hospitals for treating allergic reactions. Light is used to inhibit the release of histamine and so reduce allergic symptoms such as congestion, runny nose, watery eyes and headaches.

The device consists of a small power pack and two probes which are inserted into the nostrils. Each session with the Medinose takes about four-and-a-half minutes, two to three times a day.

In a double blind placebo controlled trial at Tel Aviv University medical centre, 72 per cent of hay fever patients reported a reduction in symptoms and an improvement in their overall condition when using this device, compared with only 24 per cent of those taking a placebo. Patients also received a nasendoscopy (examination of nasal tissue using an endoscope), which further supports the results by showing a significant reduction in nasal tissue inflammation after treatment.
